Strategy 1. Using standards
These days, most teachers are working with content standards and curricula, matched by testing programs with consequences. Given the increased weight placed on assessment, a teacher should to be able to translate content standards not only into effective instruction, but also into sound assessments of learning. Now, there are standards for assessment.
Most of the tools here are for translating standards and curriculum to a program of assessments that combines multiple sources of information. The last tool in the list asks a mentor teacher to help a beginning teacher to see how teachable moments can be used to advance toward standards.
