Strategy #2: Analyze thinking processes
Today's standards try to focus attention on what is generally referred to as higher-order thinking where students have the opportunity to analyze, synthesize and evaluate subject matter. Yet there are other times when students do need to recall, comprehend or apply knowledge as well.
Another way to become familiar with the standards is to use the Exploring content expectations tool to figure out the various types of thinking required of students. Understanding the expectations helps you think about the types of support students will need to make sense of the content and may also help you develop objectives and locate resources.
